چکیده
Immunoelectron microscopy techniques, using immunofer ritin and immunoperoxidase, were applied to the study of viral envelope antigens following passage of the Soehner Dmochowski isolate of the murine sarcoma virus in rats and hamsters. Results of this study have demonstrated that the envelope antigens of Soehner-Dmochowski murine sarcoma virus recovered from rat bone tumor cells were distinct from those of Soehner-Dmochowski murine sarcoma virus recovered from the hamster bone tumor cells. The usefulness of these immunoelectron microscopy techniques is illustrated.

Sarcoma-negative leukemia-positive transformed cell culture established from a murine sarcoma virus-induced rat bone tumor.
Inoculation of the Soehner-Dmochowski isolate of the Moloney strain of murine sarcoma virus (MSV), designated MSV-SD, consistently leads to the development of bone tumors in the susceptible New Zealand black (NB) rats. Two separate cell cultures have been established from 2 individual MSV-SD-induced NB rat bone tumors. Cells of 1 bone tumor culture, designated RBT-E, are in early in vitro passa...

induced solid tumors in mice, rats, and hamsters. These virus isolates are now known as MSV-H3 and MSV-M. The histol ogy of these tumors has been described extensively by a number of workers (4, 27, 35). Soehner and Dmochowski (32) have recently reported the induction of osteosarcomas in rats and hamsters by both MSV-M and MSV-H. They have also reported the cell-free transmission of these tumor...
متن کاملEnhancement of murine sarcoma virus (Moloney) infection and tumorigenesis in vivo by coinfection with Rauscher leukemia virus.
Dual infection of mice with murine sarcoma virus (Moloney) [MSV(M)] and Rauscher leukemia virus (RLV) resulted in an enhanced MSV(M) infection, reflected by increased mortality with tumor. Significant increases in tumor incidence, induced by low concentrations of MSV(M) when inoculated into RLV-infected mice, demonstrated that RLV enhanced MSV(M) oncogenicity. Temporal studies indicated that RL...
متن کاملInduction and regression of primary moloney sarcoma virus-induced tumors in mice.
Newborn BALB/c, C57BL/6, and (BALB/c X C57BL/6) Fi (CBF) mice were equally susceptible to tumor induction by Moloney sarcoma virus (MSV). A significant incidence of spon taneous regressions of primary tumors was observed—a phenome non unique to this tumor system. Of tumors induced in newborn BALB/c, C57BL/6, and CBF mice, 4/151, 20/43, and 12/49, respectively, regressed. Serum from mice whose...
متن کاملSuppression of Moloney sarcoma virus immunity following sensitization with attenuated virus.
Murine sarcoma virus (Moloney strain) (MSV-M)-induced tumors are unusual in that they regularly appear less than 2 weeks after virus inoculation, progress for 1 to 2 weeks, and are rejected by normal adult BALB/c mice. Rejectio leaves the animals immune to tumor induction. In the present study, presensitization of normal adult BALB/c mice with attenuated MSV-M resulted in an altered pattern of ...
